2014 Spring Competitive Program Info

The Middletown Youth Soccer Club Spring Competitive Soccer Program offers a place for U8-U19 players to test their skills and represent MYSC participating in the Rhode Island Youth Super Liga and other tournaments sanctioned by Soccer Rhode Island.  This program requires a higher level of commitment from players AND PARENTS than the Fall Recreational Program as the goal is to develop increased player skill levels and competitive team play.

* What is Spring Competitive Soccer?
MYSC Spring Travel soccer teams compete in the Rhode Island Youth SuperLiga, which is a state-wide league comprised of teams ranging from the U8 through U19 age groups.  Each team will play an eightgame schedule comprised of four home and four away games that will be scheduled on weekends between roughly the end of March and the first week or two in June.

Teams are normally not co-ed, but it is not uncommon for girls to play on a Boys Team for a variety of reasons, especially at the lower age groups.

Pre-season practices begin in January when each team will be assigned a one hour block of time during weekends at the Newport Boys and Girls Club.  Once the weather permits, teams will begin practicing twice/week at the Wyatt Rd complex.

* Player Registration:  Spring 2014 Competitive Travel Soccer Registration is now open.  Players are required to be registered no later than12:00 noon on their designated player assessment date or they will not be permitted to participate in their designated Tryout Sessions.  All registered players receive primary consideration for placement on a spring competitive team.  Players who registered after Monday, 11 November and/or did not attend a Tryout session for their age group will be placed on a Wait List and will only be assigned to teams if there are available roster spots.

EZ Player Registration: Enter Here.

Coaches Registration: Enter Here.

Manager Registration: Enter Here.

 * Registration Fees: Players are required to be registered no later than 12:00 noon on their designated player assessment date or they will not be permitted to participate
in their designated Tryout Sessions
.  The cost to register a player on or before Monday, 11 November is $80

Late Registration:  After Monday, 11 November the Registration fee increases to $100.00.

Family Discount:  If three or more family members register for Spring Competitive Soccer, the third (and each additional) player will receive a 50% discount on registration fees.

Refunds: Absolutely NO refunds will be given after team formations have been made if a player decides not to play.  If a player is not assigned to a team, MYSC will refund the full Registration fee.

* Additional Anticipated Costs:  In addition to the Registration Fee, there are two additional anticipated costs that ARE NOT included with Player Registration:

Uniforms:  If the player DID NOT play Spring Competitive soccer last year, he/she will be required to purchase a MYSC Spring Travel uniform set which depending on size will cost approximately $70-$80.  This will be the second season these uniforms will be used and we expect them to be used through the Spring 2016 season. Further uniform information will be put out after the teams have been formed (Mid-Dec).

Newport Boys and Girls Club:  Players are also required to register with the Newport Boys and Girls Club where the one-hour/weekend indoor team training sessions will take place.  Registration is expected to cost $20-30/player and will entitle the player to a full-year of membership at the B&G Club.

* Tryouts/Player Assessments:  ALL 2014 Spring Competitive players are required to attend one of the age division appropriate Tryouts held in October and November at the MYSC Wyatt Rd Soccer Complex.  It is recommended that in order to most accurately assess the player's abilities and skill level relative to a large number of players in his/her age group, players attend the Primary tryout session rather than the Make-up session that has fewer participants. Players are required to be registered no later than 12:00 noon on their designated player assessment date or they will not be permitted to participate in their designated Tryout Sessions.

* 2014 Spring Competitive Tryout Dates for the U-8 through U-19 divisions are as follows:

Players who registered after Monday, 11 November and/or did not attend a Tryout session for their age group will be placed on a Wait List and will only be assigned to teams if there are available roster spots.
Team selection will be based on individual player tryout results, the number of teams that will be formed, and by positional player requirements. The MYSC Competitive Director and Club President will have final say on team formation.  Players will be notified of team placement by e-mail using the address submitted during registration.  This process will occur in mid-December.

* Playing-Up Requests:  Any player wishing to attempt to Play-Up to an older age group must:  1. Attend a tryout session with their age appropriate team PRIOR to attending a tryout session with the older age group.
