Competitive Referee: General Information

For those interested in refereeing competitive games, you have to complete on-line training modules and then attend a training clinic. If you are under age 16, you need to attend the Grade 9 clinic. Age 16 and older can attend the Grade 8 clinic if they desire.

Competitive (USSF) Referee: Certification Requirements

Complete information on how to become a referee is available at Rhode Island State Referee Committee.

Registration through GameOfficials website.

Competitive (USSF) Referee Re-certification Requirements:

For those who are already USSF referees, all re-certification items (registration, test, training) must be completed by December 31.  There is a $10 per month fine beginning in the new year.

All Grade 8 and Grade 9 referees must complete four hours of training sessions each year to maintain their referee status. The session schedule is available on SRC website or by logging in at GameOfficials.net  This training can be done by attending any two of the 2-hour training sessions. There are field training sessions, classroom training sessions, and online training sessions
